Privacy Policy

This is a personal portfolio, not a company or a product with a data team behind it, so this page is written the same way: short, direct, and in plain English.

It explains what information this site can collect while you're browsing, why, and what happens to it. If anything here ever changes, this page changes with it.

Most of this site (the homepage, About, Skills, Uses, Blog) can be browsed without creating an account or handing over any personal information at all.

A small number of features ask for a little more, and only when you choose to use them:

• Anonymous analytics: page views and general usage patterns, not tied to your identity.

• Guestbook messages: the message you write, plus your display name and avatar from the sign-in provider you choose.

• Authentication information: only collected at the moment you sign in to leave a guestbook message.

• Device and browser information: general technical details (browser type, screen size, rough location) used only in aggregate for analytics.

This site may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand which pages get read and how the site performs: nothing more granular than that.

Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous. It isn't used to build a profile of you individually, and it's never cross-referenced with your guestbook account.

The Guestbook lets signed-in visitors leave a short public message. To do that, the following is stored: your message, your display name, your avatar image, and which provider you signed in with.

One account can have one active message at a time; signing in again with the same account lets you edit or delete it, not create a second one. Every message is publicly visible to anyone who visits the Guestbook page.

Signing in to leave a Guestbook message is handled entirely through Google or GitHub; you choose which one. This site never sees or stores your password.

Only the basic profile information your chosen provider shares (name, avatar, and a unique account identifier) is used, and only to attach your message to your account so you can edit or delete it later.

A small number of cookies are used to keep you signed in between visits and to remember your theme preference (light or dark). None of them are used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

This site is built on a small set of trusted infrastructure providers rather than anything custom:

• Supabase: handles authentication and stores Guestbook messages securely.

• Google and GitHub: power sign-in, at your choice, when leaving a Guestbook message.

• Hosting and analytics providers: serve the site and may collect basic, anonymous usage data.

A Guestbook message is kept for as long as your account exists on this site, or until you delete it yourself. Deleting your message removes it immediately and permanently.

Aggregated analytics data is retained only long enough to be useful for understanding site traffic, and is never tied back to an individual visitor.

Authentication and data storage are handled by Supabase, with row-level security rules that ensure only you can edit or delete your own Guestbook message. No system is perfectly unbreakable, but reasonable, standard safeguards are in place throughout.

You're always free to:

• Edit or delete your Guestbook message at any time by signing back in.

• Ask what information is stored about you.

• Request that your data be deleted entirely, even if you can no longer sign in.

Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers. It exists only to make the Guestbook and basic analytics work.
