Behind the Pixels
I didn’t wake up one day wanting to build software. It started smaller than that: taking things apart to see how they worked, copying code I didn’t fully understand yet, and being more curious about why something broke than annoyed that it did.
Most of what I actually know came from building things that didn’t work the first time, rebuilding them, and doing that enough times that the rebuilding got faster. AI became part of that loop somewhere along the way, not as a shortcut around learning, but as a faster way into it. This page is an honest account of where that came from and who, along the way, shaped how I think about building for the web.
The Story Behind
Computers held my attention early, not because I had some grand plan for them, but because they were the one thing in the house that did exactly what you told them to and nothing more. That was oddly satisfying as a kid: a system with rules I could actually learn, instead of ones I had to guess at.
Learning to program was slower and messier than it sounds now. I picked up pieces from wherever I could, broke a lot of things I didn’t know how to fix yet, and got comfortable with the fact that most of the work is debugging, not writing new code.
2025 is when AI actually changed how I learned, not by doing the work for me, but by shortening the distance between having a question and getting a real answer. I could ask why something worked the way it did and get pointed in the right direction immediately, instead of losing an afternoon to it. That let me attempt projects earlier than I otherwise would have, as long as I still did the work of actually understanding what I was shipping, not just accepting whatever came back.
What followed was months of experimenting: taking on increasingly difficult software, getting a lot of it wrong, and rebuilding until it wasn’t wrong anymore. Every mistake in that stretch taught me something specific, not something abstract, and that’s still how most of my actual learning happens.
